Architecture

Architecture is a branch of engineering that deals exclusively with the science and art of construction. It is a multidisciplinary profession that combines creation of buildings and structures with standards of functional aspects of the business of construction.

Through efficient planning, an architect is supposed to come up with a perfect blueprint of a proposed building taking into consideration its location, artificial and natural lighting, heating or cooling and acoustic conditions before starting the construction of residences, office spaces, auditoriums or buildings of any other utility. As a multidisciplinary profession architecture requires a combination of artistic, technological and sociological expertise.

Over the years an architect’s job has evolved into all-encompassing functions that covers town planning, landscape architecture, urban development and interior design, and not just confined to buildings.

The location of a building and roads, the arrangement of flowers, shrubs and trees and other features of open space all come under the functional areas of a landscape architect. Urban development authorities in cities and towns also seek the assistance and advice of urban planners who happen to be architects. Besides, architects involve themselves in the interior designing activities in the modern world.
